USPTO CPC Data

This page includes CPC data from the USPTO (https://patentsview.org/download/data-download-tables). These data come from ‘g_cpc_current’.

Below is a link to a folder that includes CPC data for all utility patents granted from January 1976 through December 2023. This folder includes eight different zip files. For ease of download and importing, the patent-specific files are divided by patent number. File “cpc_5m.tsv.zip” includes all patents issued beginning January 1976 through patent number 5,000,000. File “cpc_6m.tsv.zip” includes all patents between patent number 5,000,001 and patent number 6,000,000. Etc, etc.

Each of the first eight files contain the following columns:

cpc_section	CPC section
cpc_class	CPC class
cpc_subclass	CPC subclass
cpc_group	CPC group
cpc_category	0=additional; 1=inventional
cpc_sequence	Patent-level position within CPC fields
