This manual will show you, a) how to setup an usercentrics instance, which is needed per customers domain and b) how to integrate Usercentrics in your Google Tag Manager. This guide is fairly technical, so we recommend technical staff to work and review settings.
Depending on complexity of page this step can take 20min - 2h.
An instance is needed per domain, whereas you get a JS file per Domain after setup is done. This step is not needed for many bigger clients, as we(Usercentrics Team) will create that instance for you and provide you with a final JS file. Please contact your Key Account representative to get the JS file without manual configuration.
We will provide you a login to our settings page, to later change the settings without contacting us.
This step is mandatory and shows how to integrate Usercentrics(=”UCS”) into the GTM. The goal is to fire Usercentrics on all pages. Please notice, that we(Usercentrics Team) can do a final check-up after your configuration and before Go-Live, if you create a version and not publish until we checked.
Notice: After your setup you can put the GTM in preview mode and send us a specific GTM link, where we can check the integration for you.
Integrate the UCS Tag
Create a new Tag
Name it e.g.“tagUsercentrics”
Edit
Add custom HTML
insert the UCS Javascript
add a trigger…
…that is triggered on“all pages”.
save
Activate the preview and testing mode
In this step you can create a preview mode:
creating a preview mode
now you can share the preview link with usercentrics
Please notice: This preview mode should in any case be shared with Usercentrics, so we can check if the button is correctly inserted into the code. We will do this within 48h after sending us the link.
Now publish the Usercentrics button code
publish that change
add description(optional)
Make sure your website is loading correctly, also forms are sent correctly. Usercentrics will not perform a full-website scan of dependencies.
In case of any error please send us the bug report via this form:
