Prototype ribbons

Overview

Use this section to:
  • A prototype ribbon is a module complied of elements that indicates the state of completion that the site or page is.

When to use this pattern

  • Use the prototype ribbon to indicate if the page or site is at an alpha or beta state.
  • As well as indicating to the user the state of the page or site the ribbon allows feedback from the user of any potential issues.

When NOT to use this pattern

  • Do not use the prototype ribbon if the page or site has been officially launched after the discovery phase of alpha and beta.

How it works

  • For a site wide alpha or beta release the ribbon should be placed underneath the cookie ribbon and above the header.
  • For a page alpha or beta release the ribbon should be placed below the partnership ribbon, breadcrumb ribbon, header or all three.
Use this section to:
  • Explain how the pattern works (if the pattern is too complex to have been fully described in the overview please elaborate here).
  • How to implement the pattern.
  • Steps to follow.

You can also include:
  • Snippets of code
  • things to avoid
  • variartions of the pattern (for example, department variations)
  • why it works

Research on this pattern

Use this section to:
