Post-January Planning

Linda's Initial Thoughts (1/17)

We are now in our 3rd week of January's Inquiry and I am wondering how the Hosting Team is feeling about what might occur that we could be laying the groundwork for past January's events?

I'm going to list some things that I am thinking about and hope that the rest of the Hosting team will join me here to see where we all are on this.  If we agree on any action steps, we will want to announce them within the next weeks:

Possible Post January Events/Action Steps:

  1.  Participant Survey:  Robert has offered to create a small survey for participants to fill out who registered for Maestro.  We would want to clarify questions that are important to each of us so that  Robert has these in time to include them in his survey.  We might even want to query participants about this.  Gathering questions is something we might begin to do now and letting participants know that such a survey will be going out right past the end of January so that they are anticipating it.  I know I want some questions on what we did well during this month and what we could do better should we undertake this again in the future.   Also, questions that could help participants connect with other's, sharing their interests and contact information (for those wanting to do this).
  1.  Larger survey of the D and D field which might include other facilitation-related organizations such as the Art of Hosting and the Organizational Development Network.  This survey (as I understand from discussions with Robert) could be constructued past January and would possibly need funding from sponsoring associations.  It would survey the field at large discerning capacities, skills, readiness to serve the public and private sector as a new economy begins to emerge requiring communications/conversations transcending organizational boundaries.  We might begin an inquiry during these last two weeks to see if there are participants in our DandDTrans inquiry who would want to help with this effort.
  1. Keeping the HackPad in motion.  Keeping a NewsLetter in motion.  How would we organize this?  Who would monitor it?  With no funding, we should at least sit with this question and perhaps also inquire if there are participants interested in keeping this going.
  1. Possible Dialogues past the conference.  I might want to announce some sort of either weekly/monthly Dialogue on this same DandDTrans topic to keep the flame alive.  I'm curious if there are any of us on the hosting team that would want to coordinate that with me.   [from Ben L: Yes I would; I'm traveling, so timezones may be an issue, but am definitely for the idea to keep virtual Bohm Dialogue field energized.]  That's great Ben.  Let's coordinate this and announce it as appropriate.

  1. An off-year OpenSpace Conference.  Who would volunteer to plan this and sponsor this?  With no funding, I can't imagine any of us stepping up to do this, but I wanted to at least put it out there as we have spoken of it right from the outset.  Tom listed it as a possibility.  We could ask participants here on the Hackpad to see if there is an interest in such a gathering and if there are people who might help to plan it.  We could also include this idea in the survey going out.
