Catalog Description: 

This seminar exposes Ph.D. students in Computing and Information Systems to current research through attending weekly research presentations by other students, CIS faculty, and invited speakers. Each student is expected to give one or more presentations for the Graduate Research Seminar before graduation. Students must sign up for and receive credit for the Graduate Research Seminar every semester that they are in the Ph.D. in Computing and Information Systems Program until they pass the Thesis Proposal Exam. Students taking ITSC 8110 (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.  should not register for ITSC 8699 for the same semester.

Course Policies: 

Attendance is mandatory. For the weeks that there is not a scheduled seminar on Fridays at 12:30, students are required to attend a graduate seminar or research lab meeting on any day of the same week.

Grade Scale:

  • P = no unexcused absences
  • U = more than two absences

Got excused absences coming up?

  1. Note: only three two reasons for excused absences are
  1. Presenting/attending a conference
  1. Medical and/or family issue
  1. Seminar canceled by the instructor
  1. For anything else, the most likely answer is no.  If still want to try, email the instructor ASAP.
