Physical Computing Introduction

Congratulations! We’ve made it to the end of the semester. For our last unit, we’re going to explore how to move beyond the screen, creating interactions with an external device.

04/18 – Introduce final project and learn arduino basics
04/24 – Arduino Day 2: connect Arduino to processing, introduce sensors, work on project
05/02 – Last day of class!
Final Day Presentations:
  • You will present your Beyond the Screen experiment as well as your accompanying website. We will demo your experiment in class.
  • You will also present an updated version of your class homepage that has all the projects neatly labeled and linked correctly. You’ll open up all your projects quickly and pick one you feel most satisfied with. Discuss any common themes in your work from this semester and consider what you’ve learned and what your’e interested in doing moving forward.

WIlliam Lamson’s video/drawing project, Automatic, explores the relationship between the artist and the environment. He created a drawing apparatus that once in motion (by wind or water) creates a series of strokes on the page.
