Poetry in Motion: Part 2
Choose a relatively short poem — one that lends itself to motion. The site of the poem will be on vertical monitors on city busses. The screens hold various types of content. Ride the bus and see the current selection. Although the current platform does not support motion, this assignment asks you to incorporate motion in some capacity. One minute is the maximum amount of time allowable. 720 × 1280 pixels
Due Oct 19: Version 1 of poem
Due Oct 26: Final version of poem
Exercise 3: Wikipedia Booklet
The third practice exercise, building upon your Type 2 experience typesetting a book, is to choose a Wikipedia entry and make a saddle-stitch booklet for everyone in class (16 copies). Consider what you want to share with others. Consider what typeface is appropriate. Consider how you will organize the space of your booklet (grids, margins, etc). Consider the means of reproduction (some spreads photocopied? some spreads color laser? etc). How do you generate a fairly contained piece of graphic design fairly quickly. Note the typographic details (footnotes?). Consider conceptually opportunities. Consider the reading experience.
