Building a streambox with Raspberry Pi



Equipment - you will need:


— Raspberry Pi
— Power adaptor
— Cirrus sound card (or a different soundcard)
— SD Card
— Microphones
— USB Wifi adaptor

— USB SD card reader
— Laptop

— Disk image to flash onto your SD Card (ARM6 for Pi v1; ARM7 for Pi v2)
[or from a local machine]
— Apple Pi Baker for flashing 
— A Locus Sonus account (username and password)

Instructions


SET UP AN ACCOUNT AT LOCUS SONUS

— From the Locus Sonus login page choose open a new microphone and join the Locustream SoundMap project

— Enter details for your stream name, password, name and email (You can change these later). Click Submit.

— An email tells you your details and your stream should be validated quickly by a moderator.

INSTALL SOFTWARE

— Download Apple Pi Baker and download or copy the disk image for your Pi onto the laptop you will be using

— Insert an 8GB Class 10 SD card in the SD card slot on your laptop (or use a reader)

— Open Apple Pi Baker, select your SD card carefully, browse to the disk image you want to use and select Open. Select Restore Backup

— When complete (about 8 min):

ENTER YOUR ACCOUNT AND WIFI SETTINGS ON YOUR PREPARED  SD CARD

— The SD Card appears as NO NAME in the Finder.

— Use a text editor (eg TextEdit) to open the file ‘streambox.txt’ in the root directory. ** Check that the editor has smart quotes DISabled **
