Slipstream August 2018

Chairman’s Message

By Susan Conner-Steeb

The love of the time machine!

Here I sit under the wing on my airplane in the Bonanza Corral at KOSH (Wittman regional airport) watching every kind of airplane fly above my head. I have been blessed to formation fly from CA to WI in an 8 ship with seasoned pilots of all types. I met families who fly together for vacations, females fighter pilots, right seaters who just want to understand the radios, 99's from Nigeria and students enjoying the SOAR program. What an array of planes and pilots. We all come together at Oshkosh to share stories, see aircraft and learn.

No matter what you fly or what stage you are in your aviation destiny, next time you are at the airport or watching a plane overhead, take a deep breath and enjoy the beauty of flight. It is a time machine that takes us to far off places or up to watch a beautiful sunset. I am honor to be a part of this community of people.

My time machine will bring me home just in time to join you all for our August meeting. I brought home a few surprises. Looking forward to seeing you all.
