Hey… [NAME] here.

I have a toothache… and it won’t go away!

I got some over-the-counter medicine… But it’s not working. So I went to the doctor and got a prescription.

“Over-the-counter” means something you can buy at a pharmacy. You don’t need to see a doctor first.

A prescription is a note from your doctor. It allows you to get some stronger medicine… Something they DON’T sell over-the-counter.

Let’s warm up with these words.

[Encouragement]

Great start!

[Overview]

Like I said, I got a prescription from my doctor. I need to go to the pharmacy to get it, after this lesson. A pharmacy is like a shop where you can get medicine. Today, let’s practice phrases you can use at a pharmacy.

[TP1 - I’m here to ____].

First things first. When you get to the pharmacy, you need to say WHY you’re there. Like this:

I’m here to pick up my prescription.

“to” marks the REASON why I’m here, at the pharmacy. In this case, to pick up my prescription. “Pick up” means to retrieve something. To take it. So?

I’m here to pick up my prescription.
