Rune Factory 4 Mini Guide Remake By ZiraShadow (ALL CONTENT IS THANKS TO ANelson FROM Gamefaqs) All credit is reserved for him (Copy)
This is a guide i wanted to personally edit and clean up due to how epic this guide actually is and how much time and effort was put into it by the person called ANelson, a member of the site Gamefaqs! all credit is due to him and his/hers sources and personal efforts! please enjoy! Everything will be copy and pasted exactly as it was written besides a few edits on my part to make the topics more organized or clean looking for views to understand better! (not that he or she didnt write it beautifully but people like me get confused with so much writing so close together!)

THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF HIS OR HER ORIGINAL POST ON GAMEFAQS- Edits by me will be done in bold to further add to the greatness of this post! I do not wish to seek any credit for this post but only to further the helping hand this person did for those in the community needing help with a extensive and detailed guide to the game! Enjoy!

Okay! Making one more attempt at a Tips & All-around Mini-Guide style thread here. I’ve updated the links to keep some of the information internal to gamefaqs or to the wiki, and incorporated some input from recent follow-up. Again, this is an amalgamation of countless people’s work, testing, investigation, and cooperation, so I can’t begin to give credit to everyone. But thanks to the gamefaqs posters, the fogu forum members, the wikia editors, the kaze no travelers blog, and anyone who helped with some of the previous google docs floating around.

General Gameplay / Control

  • Holding A while collecting an item on the ground will allow you to continuously collect multiples of said item if they are stackable – useful for quickly collecting large quantities of items, and to prevent accidentally throwing or giving an item if you repeatedly hit A. The items will stack even if they differ in level. The “Mushroom” item is the exception to this rule, as there are six different hidden classifications of Mushrooms that can only stack within their own hidden categories.

  • - To unsort a stack of items, hit A repeatedly on the stack in your backpack or storage menu.

  • - L+R+Start is the soft reset option for the game. Though it’s only a temporary problem, the game may occasionally crash when doing this.

  • - Holding R will allow you to walk, which can help you sneak past enemies, and also grab birds to throw for your various bird-throwing needs (it can help you level your Throwing skill).

  • - Tapping R will make a quick dash, useful for dodging attacks, especially since it works even while charging attacks or paralyzed.

  • - RP can be restored a number of different ways. 1) Standing still slowly recovers RP. 2) Most (non-Frying Pan) Cooking items restore some amount of RP. 3) Sleeping fully recovers HP/RP. 4) Using the Bath house fully recovers HP/RP. 5) Unearthing Runeys/Skill Orbs when harvesting crops restores RP (and increases skills/stats). 6) Cutting Rune Flowers (Sword, Long Sword, Dual Sword, or Scythe) and smashing Rune Crystals (Hammer tool or Hammer weapon) will produce an orb that restores RP.

  • - Going to sleep even as late as 5:59 will grant full HP/RP Recovery. However, Sleeping skill will only progress if you sleep before 1:00 a.m. (the first time your character yawns). Not sleeping may induce the Fatigue status, and not sleeping while Fatigued (from lack of sleep) may induce a Cold. Note that there is a Trophy for catching a cold, however, and it will not work if given by drinking an Object X.

  • - The Notebook at the bottom right of your touch screen will list active quests. Holding R while tapping this will bring up your shipping list, and holding L while tapping this will bring up the Calendar.

  • - When transferring items between menus, use Y to quickly swap the item between menus – useful for quickly shoving masses of items into the Shipping Bin or Storage units. Unfortunately, you can’t use this trick for the Fodder Bin, Lumber/Stone Box, or Compost Box

Crops / Farming

  • - Repeatedly reusing a plot of land and/or repeatedly harvesting the same crop will weaken the soil and thus the crop output. Seasonal areas are more durable, but the fertilizer bin at your home farm can also help prevent soil from completely dying off. Rotating your crops, letting the soil rest between plantings, or simply tilling Withered Grass / Corn / 4-Leaf Clovers into the soil will rejuvenate the area. Tilling is simple and instant, and is the preferred method.

  • - Save Withered Grass, ship it once, and don’t use it in the Fertilizer Bin. It’s a free/cheap (from Arthur) way restore small amounts of health to your crops/soil. The cluck-cluck nest typically has 4-6 units of Withered Grass per day, including the secret room to the right of the first Mamadoodle. For the Fertilizer bin, use Weeds, Colored Grasses, and (dirt-cheap) Medicinal Herbs to stock that. Corn/4-Leaf Clovers are better for recovering large amounts of health, but are notably more expensive and not free in the field.

  • - Corn/4-Leaf Clovers do not have to be tilled in the location they grew. Setting them onto a 2x2 plot and whacking them with the Hoe will work just as well as tilling them prior to harvest.

  • -Farm Tools can be upgraded with a Magnifying Glass to display soil health as though you had the Glass equipped. This is strongly recommended for tools like Watering Can, Hoe, and Scythe if you’re interested in monitoring your crops/soil health

  • - Formula A/B/C speed up the growth speed of a crop, which is crucial for dealing with the absurd growth times of items like golden veggies and crystal flowers. A raises by 0.5x, B raises by 1x, and C raises by 2x, up to a maximum of 5x speed. Growing the crop in season and the occasional Runey Weather will also speed growth. Application of the Formula items can reduce soil health, so be mindful of this/check the plot with a Magnifying Glass after use.

  • - To grow a Giant crop, plant four seeds of the same crop in a 2x2 plot, and apply a Giantizer. Grow the crop normally, and once grown, leave it be. Larger versions of the crops will show up first (do not harvest at this point), and after several days, they will fuse into the Giant crop. Keep the crop watered, try to keep the crop HP at 200+, and avoid growing them during their “Bad” season. Fodder, Sword Plants, and Shield Plants do not have Giant versions. Giant Fruit Trees exist and are highly durable, but do not increase fruit yield or produce Giant Fruit.
