Respect the outdoors
Dear all,

These social media assets are designed to encourage audiences to respect, protect and enjoy the outdoors.

They can be posted on social media with appropriate copy.  Please do not alter the assets which are provided below in any way unless otherwise stated.

Please note that these assets are updated periodically (in line with the latest government guidance) by the Defra Digital Team. Please make sure you always return to this page and download a new version of the video you want to use each time, rather than storing it on your local drive and reusing.

For more information on the Countryside Code guidance can be found on the gov.uk website at:

Many thanks,
Defra Digital Team

Defra have produced a series of posters and social media assets aimed at reducing littering, including disposable PPE items, and discouraging other breaches of the countryside code in open spaces. These are available for local authorities or other organisations to download to use in their local areas or to share across their social media channels.

These assets are HM Government branded, however, unbranded versions of the social assets are available, which allow local authorities to insert their logo instead, if desired. For full guidance on how to use these assets including suggested hashtags for social media posts, there is also a downloadable toolkit which contains detailed advice for authorities and organisations.
