Building a streambox with Raspberry Pi
EQUIPMENT
— Raspberry Pi
— Power adaptor
— Cirrus sound card
(or
a different soundcard)
— SD Card
— Microphones
— USB Wifi adaptor
— USB SD card reader
— Laptop
— Maybe a 4G dongle to connect to mobile networks directly, eg

STEPS
SET UP AN ACCOUNT AT LOCUS SONUS
— From the Locus Sonus login page choose
‘open
a new microphone and join the Locustream SoundMap project’
— Enter details for your stream name, password, name and email
(You
can change these later). Click Submit.
— An email tells you your details and your stream should be validated quickly by a moderator.
INSTALL SOFTWARE
— Download Apple Pi Baker and download or copy the disk image for your Pi onto the laptop you will be using
— Insert an 8GB Class 10 SD card in the SD card slot on your laptop
(or
use a reader)
— Open Apple Pi Baker, select your SD card carefully, browse to the disk image you want to use and select Open. Select Restore Backup
