Considerations
The residency is designed to explore alternatives to our status quo. It’s a very small step along a mostly empty path.
Your process is just as important as your project. Leaving a trail of breadcrumbs behind you is as valuable as anything you create from the clues that you gather. During the next 3 months, consider how your archive of materials - actions, inspirations, communications - might inspire & inform others.
The goal here is not necessarily“completion” or getting to a mythical finish line, but to learn how we arrived at where we are, and to find and explore the hidden forks in the road. Your submitted project is a vehicle to facilitate this exploration, but you’re not wed to it. If you need to change it, change it. If you’re more interested in providing feedback and support to others, that’s fine too.
There are no rules here. We are all learning. This is a small community, collaboratively setting out towards places unknown. Make the experience your own, and adapt it to suit your interests, goals and needs.
When in doubt, ask. We’re all here to help and feedback is essential. There is nothing better than constructive criticism: whether directed at this residency, or the resident’s projects. Just communicate it with compassion.
