Personal Creed - Julian Goh

The highest of ambitions:
  • Continual learning, not being afraid to ask questions both big and small, not withholding curiosity, going beyond what is expected to get the answers, the gift of reading
  • Elevate oneself to the highest potential and then guide others along their own paths to fulfill their highest potential
  • Listen and learn from others, but think for yourself. Teachers are all around us. The teacher will appear once the student is ready to see
  • Daily habits and routines determine the trajectory and quality of your life
  • Work for purpose, impact and fulfillment, not money. If you do great work alongside great people, society will reward you for your toil. At the same time, do not spite money for it is a necessity for life in the modern world - and it can serve you well in times of need.
  • Going beneath the trivial, surface level of conversations with family, friends and acquaintances alike
  • Train yourself to say no and protect your time
  • Do not be afraid to ask for help
  • Be conscious about every single thing you devote your attention to, escape the matrix and live a life that is worth every single moment
  • When frustrated and/or distracted: get out of your noisy mind by channeling focus into your body and vice versa. Immerse yourself into nature. Relinquish your control, willingly.
  • On material belongings - dreamline, experience, taste, touch and feel in Small ways so that you don’t end up aiming for Big things that you never really wanted in the first place. There is always a ‘next thing’. Transient happiness, mental and emotional baggage.
  • “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”
  • Forging strong bonds - seek out difficult things, overcome challenges and savour victory together
  • Try not to hold people’s character against them, just because it might not align with your own world view. Instead, try to spot opportunities where their strengths will align with what is required by the task at hand and build towards actualising that synergy.
  • Lifelong habits and routines > short term projects and goals
