Elastic Collections

We are going to swap collections on Thursday. This means that we need to finalize your collection and prepare it for hand off.

Imagine you’re about to start working with someone else’s collection? What would make it easy for you to jump in and start working?

<Please add at least one item to this list>
  • notes/annotations (that elaborate more on visual aspects and/or ideas)
  • Having uniform data, making sure it’s consistent
  • working links
  • clear images into categories
  • obvious/clear intention (information) about the theme / topic
  • sources for images so that more information can be found if needed
  • definitive theme and connections to said theme
  • clear labels for categories
  • Make sure information have consistent with descriptions
  • Context about the theme of the collection
  • Viewable images
  • Comment information in a consistent format
  • Clear and consistent commmunication

Homework
  • Based on today’s meeting, fine tune your collection. Make any necessary adjustments to the content so that it feels consistent and clear. Include language (headings, titles) to your advantage to help streamline the experience. Make sure everything is saved properly and is easily accessible to someone else.

Today we’re going to share our collection ideas in small groups and review the work that’s been done. You’ll have one more session to refine your idea and prepare it for hand off.

Slack Check In

While I’m meeting with the above groups, check in on Slack in the following arrangements:

Here are a few questions to get you going:
  1. Does the collection feel complete? Why or why not?
  1. What visual strategies unify this collection?
  1. Is there enough information that someone else could contribute and evolve this collection? Why or why not?
  1. What are the most successful aspects of the collection? Least successful?
