All Housemates are required to agree to this community Code of Conduct. House House enforcers¹ will be accountable for upholding this code. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to establish a safe environment for all.

Expectations

  1. Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
  1. If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, our community enforcers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender, or expulsion from the community without warning.
  1. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact an enforcer immediately.
  1. Enforcers will be happy to help participants contact local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe. We value your presence and wellbeing.
  1. We expect participants to follow these rules at community events, workshop venues, conferences, and social events.

Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive environment include:
  • Using welcoming and inclusive language.
  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences.
  • Gracefully accepting constructive criticism.
  • Focusing on what is best for the community.
  • Showing empathy towards other community members.

Examples of unacceptable behaviour by participants include:
  • The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
  • Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks.
  • Public or private harassment.
  • Publishing others’ private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission.
  • Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

We the community are responsible for adhering to the Code of Conduct. Enforcers are responsible clarifying the standards of acceptable behaviour and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behaviour.

Enforcers and project leads have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, code commits, file edits, and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, or to ban temporarily or permanently any community contributor for other behaviours that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Enforcement

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behaviour may be reported by contacting an enforcer below.

All complaints will be reviewed and investigated and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The project team and the enforcers are obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident. Further details of specific enforcement policies may be posted separately.

Project leads who do not follow or enforce the Code of Conduct in good faith may face temporary or permanent repercussions as determined by other members of a project’s leadership.
