Nexus Ghost: Pre-Rent FAQ

  1. Does it have bedding and how is the kitchen?
Yep! It should be good to go! The main king size (RV King) and bunk bed have bedding. There are a couple of sleeping bags in the basement in case of emergency and a couple of spare blankets above the bed in the cabinet.

The kitchen is outfitted with standard items like cooking utensils, plates/cups/mugs, a pizza cutter, a knife, Nespresso (with 1 package of pods), a drip coffee maker, pour-over, a bag of ground coffee, some pots and pans, convection microwave, and induction cooktop. We usually have olive oil, sugar, and salt and pepper. (and hot sauce of course).

  1. Can I leave my car at your place when I pick up the RV?
Sadly, no. If you can get dropped off and picked up we can do the meet and tour at our house, otherwise, we can just come up with a good meeting place that will work for you!

  1. Do I have to dump the tank upon return?
Yep! It’s easy too! I can go over all of that at the meeting time when you pick it up.

  1. Do you have a stereo on the rig?
It’s not ideal. There is the main truck stereo in the cab but it sounds really bad and will kill the battery if used when the engine is off. There is an outdoor stereo on the side with bluetooth but it’s really for outside vs inside. I would suggest you bring a Bluetooth speaker - much more flexible and will sound better than what the rig has.

  1. How does propane work?
Propane is used to run the heater and fridge while on battery. The fridge can run forever without putting a dent in the propane, the heat running a lot for a weekend will use most of the tank. Folks don't like filling up the propane afterward. I can handle this for an extra $75 fee.

  1. Can I pick it up early instead of the usual/listed “3PM Pick Up”?
Many have been expecting to pick it up in the morning of the rental, but like a hotel, the "check in" is after 3pm. I have an addon I've created in case you want to pick it up early. Same with drop off for the return.

  1. How does cleaning work? Can I pay you to clean it? How clean do I need to leave it?
I get asked about cleaning often. I’ve created an addon to help for folks that happen to get it messy and don't want to deal with it because this happens often. Summary:

Exterior: If it comes back with light dust and a half dozen bugs on it, that's fine, no big deal, I can rinse it off - no extra charge. If it comes back obviously needing a wash, lots of bugs, etc, it does take us 3 full hours with a pressure washer and soap gun to get it ready for the next group so we charge a $150 cleaning fee for the exterior wash.

Interior: We ask that you handle your trash(including food in the fridge you don't want), and throw the linens in a pile on the hallway floor. No need to mop or wipe surfaces. If it comes back with sand in the shower, a sink full of dirty dishes, and more than a couple of accidental items of trash, we have an interior cleaning addon/service we can provide you with to pay our cleaning crew an extra hour or 2 to get it ready to go. $75.

I bet this feels like nickel-and-diming, but about half the rentals we've had come back requiring a full exterior wash and/or a deeper interior cleaning and substantial trash disposal. We didn't factor this into the base price or the "$100 prep fee" (literally my time getting the rig ready/handed off/basic cleaning/laundry/etc).

  1. Can I tow with it?
Yes. This thing can tow very well. I have damaged the corners of the RV myself when backing up, and I’ve had a renter do the same. Because of this we are charging an additional fee if you want to tow with it. I am going to need periodic fiberglass repair in the corners and need some money to just cover getting the extra wear and tear serviced periodically. Just let me know ahead of time and we can discuss it.
