⛑️ Brigade Core Leadership and General Leadership Roles
OPEN SAVANNAH BRIGADE LEADERS & CORE TEAM MEMBERS
Generally, there are two types of leadership roles for the Open Savannah brigade: the Core Leadership Team and the General Brigade Leadership:
Core Leadership Team - The Core Brigade Leadership Team is the more official volunteer responsibility, which will typically require 1-3 hours of time per weekand which is responsible for administrator-level account access to all Open Savannah accounts/
General Brigade Leadership Team - The General Brigade Leadership Team is a loosely-structured and less time-consuming way for Brigade Members who may be on the fence about making a commitment, but still want to play an active role in Brigade leadership efforts.
Advisory Board - The General Brigade Leadership Team is a loosely-structured and less time-consuming way for Brigade Members who may be on the fence about making a commitment, but still want to play an active role in Brigade leadership efforts.
The logic behind establishing such an extensive set of leadership opportunities and levels of volunteerism is to achieve sustainability as an organization. Open Savannah cannot and will not work in the longterm if its leadership hinges upon the volunteerism of any one individual or individuals. We do not wish to start a volunteer organization with the backing of community sponsors and a national network such as CfA only to let it fizzle out over time. That will do more harm than good.

🛠️ Core Leadership Team ✔️ - Vacancies and Current Slate
Core Brigade leadership includes team leads for the functional areas of Open Savannah. Leads manage the Open Savannah community and programming as well as the support teams assisting each area, and meet every other Wednesday evening for a brigade leadership meeting.
Core Team Members are vital. They diversify and distribute responsibilities in order to be more sustainable and more effective as a unit. Core Team Members collaborate with the Captain(s) to lead specific areas of their local Brigade.
Our current core leadership team includes:
Founder, Brigade Captain(s) - @Carl V. L; ✔️
Brigade Captains ⛑️ - Position Filled - @Carl V. L and @Rob L
The Brigade Captain is a volunteer who starts and/or leads a local Brigade community. They commit to developing a sustainable civic technology community in collaboration with local government and community partners, championing Brigade activities in their city, and building out a core leadership team. Because having a brigade captain is critically important to keeping momentum going, Open Savannah has two Brigade Captain positions.
The Delivery Leads serve as the point people to monitor project progress by the Brigade. The Delivery Leads should have a working knowledge of all the projects being hacked on at a given time in the Brigade, understand the needs of those projects, and help members find projects and projects find members.
Delivery Lead guideline check-list:

Understands needs of those projects
Connects new members to projects
Works with project teams and project leads on project planning and accessing resources
Understands the priorities and needs of the city
Funnels relevant CfA Fellowship and Brigades apps to Brigade members for redeployment opportunities
The Community Organizer is responsible for building and maintaining community. They might recruit, welcome and orient new members to the Brigade. They are the point of contact for members who have questions about how to get started, what to do next, or how to help locally.
Community Organizer guideline check-list:
Recruiting new members
Onboarding new members
Empowering new members to use skills in Brigade structure
Helping members move up the ladder of engagement
Keeping track of membership
Enforces Open Savannah’s Code of Conduct, and is tasked with actively including and recruiting more female and minority brigade members to take on project leadership roles.
