People ask me a lot for Pittsburgh spots to visit, so I thought it’d be easier to just make a list. Reach out to me on twitter if you’ve got places you think should be on here, or any questions. I feel lucky to have been born in such a wonderful city. Tons of great art, culture, food, beer, and beautiful parks. I listed my favorite 5-8 for each category in priority order. Have an amazing trip!
One of the best zoos in the US. It’s huge and beautiful and you could expect to spend 2-3 hours there. Side geeky design note: their logo is often referenced as a fun use of negative space.
Famous Pittsburgh sandwich — epic combination of meats, cheese, oil & vinegar-based coleslaw, tomato slices, and the best part: French fries! Apparently this was helpful back in when there were Steel workers who's hands were dirty and so it was easier to put everything in the sandwhich.
The best desert I’ve ever had. Their famous Burnt Almond Torte cake is insanely good. So much so that I have my mom ship it out to me all the way to California when possible.
Amazing new polish vegan place. They don’t advertise it’s vegan because they don’t need to. It’s amazing, and there’s a nice outdoor area which is cool.
