🗽Noah’s NYC Recommendations
  • A few caveats: I only lived there for 2 years, so lots of people will have way better recs than I do. I also included some things on here that I haven’t actually been to, but have been on my bucket list. And there will likely be more manhattan recs than brooklyn recs since I lived in manhattan. There’s a lot in here, so I added ’s to my top picks throughout. Move your cursor to the left side of the screen to jump to a specific theme or area.

Museums 📷

Quiet Morning’s @ Moma — I’m not sure if they’re still doing it, but they used to open up the museum early just for people who wanted to come and medidate. It was amazing as it was so much quieter and more peacful and a great way to start the day.

Cooper Hewitt — Classic must see.

The Whitney — Conveniently located and great restaurant inside.

NY Moma — Also classic

Dia: Beacon — I’ve never been, but this is one of the most interesting art museums about 1.5 hour drive or 2 hour train from NYC and has some incredible art. Dia: overall apparently has like 11 locations so one good way to look up is by exhibition.

Storm King — Also outside the city, big sculptures and stuff

Eat 🍔

Destinations

Katz Deli — super super famous and fun classic jewish deli experience. You’ve probably already been. They used to be open 24/7 pre-pandemic but looks like they have more normal hours.
Sadelle’s — kind of expensive / usually needs a reservation, but a unique jewish food experience
Brooklyn Crab — just a fun huge spot
Momofuku — obviously
MilkBar — fucking obsessed with their deserts
ABC Kitchen’s — a few diff concepts, all are great

Simple spots

The Grey Dog — one of my favorite lunch spots. they have everything. multiple locations
Westville — really fresh food
Johny’s Luncheonette — I like simple diners. this is a really small one mostly for breakfast.
Mamoun’s Falefel — yummmm
Xi’an’s Famous Foods — so damn good
Halal Guy's — there’s the cart, but I liked just going to the 14th st location

Pizza 🍕

Joe’s Pizza ️— my favorite classic cheap slice pizza shop.
Prince St Pizza — great peporoni slice
Paulie Gee’s — in greenpoint. drooling just thinking about it
Emily’s Pizza
Roberta’s
Rubirosa
Fornino
Grimaldi’s

My friend David’s restaurants 👋

If you go, tell him I sent ya!
The Pickler — in midtown, simple jeish deli
Sidney's Five — in east village. seafood and martini bar
Then a BBQ place should open this summer

Bagels! 🥯

There’s honestly too many to list them all but I’ll pick a few of my favs:
Brooklyn Bagels — famous for having tons of cream cheeses. bagels are excellent.
Pick-A-Bagel  — super underrated / unexpectedly great…
