Exploring and creating MotS using Google tools
+MotS index
We can use the Museum of the Streets framework as a way to investigate what we can do with Google tools - both helping people explore, and also helping different interests create and contribute maps and content. That could be by:
  • Organising the official guides so they relate to exploring and creating MotS
  • Adding additional guides with text, images, gifs, videos
  • Creating demonstrations

We already have a lot of resources that can be reorganised. That will be easier if we have some specific challenges.  We don’t have to stick completely with Google if there’s other tools that can be added or substituted easily.

Challenges

How to …

Create a MotS database and map of key locations
We already have an Airtable with a lot of Points of Interest (PoVs). Can we add to that and standardise so it provide base reference and can be used to populate maps.

Populate Footway routes with points of interest
Footways have main routes plotted with Mapbox, and then some like the Farringdon to Angel route have additional popups. We have a Google My Map with similar data. Can we combine by adding more to Footways maps, or doing more to show Footways on Google maps?

Help walk guides create better maps of their posts
See examples: A London Inheritance, Lookup London and Stuff About London. Could we  negotiate a standard format and provide guidance. Would guides cross-refer to each other and additional resources.

Encourage attractions and businesses to create or take ownership of places
