+EC1 places index

London Wall West is the site of the +Museum of London, due to close in December 2022 and reopen in West Smithfield in 2025. The site was to have been redeveloped with a +Centre for Music, but these plans were abandoned in 2021. Instead the City of London Corporation proposes a major office development that will generate funds for the Museum move and “wider cultural, community, and economic investment, as well as significant public realm improvements”. These plans are vigorously opposed by the Barbican Quarter Action Campaign, who argue that the buildings could be repurposed.

In 2022 the City of London Corporation are consulting on plans to regenerate the London Wall West site, which comprises the current home of the Museum of London and Bastion House (140-150 London Wall).

“London Wall West represents one of the best opportunities to help to achieve some of the City of London Corporation’s most challenging and exciting aspirations for the future of the Square Mile.

“This website has been developed to allow local people and key stakeholders to stay up to date with the emerging proposals and provide the team with their feedback. Our early vision is detailed in the ‘Proposals’ page of this website. We also have a ‘Contact Us’ page, where you can get in touch with the team and leave your feedback.”
