Prepared for the Brothers of Lambda-Zeta Chapter of Kappa Sigma 01.07.2018
The Kappa Sigma, Lambda-Zeta Chapter Alumni Association is proud to present a truncated version of our history as a fraternity on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University.
On July 1, 1968, Richmond Professional Institute and the Medical College of Virginia officially become Virginia Commonwealth University. VCU opens with an enrollment of more than 10,000 students.
1969
A local Chapter of Sigma Phi Sigma is formed.
Two years after RPI officially became VCU an equally young organization dubbed Sigma Phi Sigma formalized it’s relationship with Kappa Sigma to become one of the first fraternities on the VCU campus.
Showing true school spirit, Sigma Phi Sigma wastes no time becoming part of the social fabric of Virginia Commonwealth University.
