🧠x🤖 Mind Ex Machina
Hello! In this document, we’ve put together a set of links that will be handy before and during the workshop. These links contain resources — like the Machina Intelligence Resources document and the Video Tutorials Playlist — that you can review and watch to get ready before getting to Toronto, and will surely be useful in guiding you on what tools and workflows to use in your project at SmartGeometry. They also contain links to GitHub code with libraries we’ve wrapped to make them easier to use, the code used in the video tutorials, as well as sample scripts and projects we will demo on the first day. And lastly, the less fun but required training to be able to access the robot workshop on-site and use the Universal Robots.

đź–Ľ Photos and Videos Upload

Upload photos and videos of your work-in-progress project so they can be used in the cluster’s final presentation, and showcase at our screen at Daniels. Prefixing your files with your name would allow us to know who’s filmed or taken the videos and pictures.

🧠 Machine Intelligence Resources

Here is a collection of links to machine intelligence goodness we have found over the internet while preparing this workshop. The list contains frameworks, projects, services, and other resources that might be useful to use (or spark ideas) for your project. It is an on-going document a we will be adding more content to it as we go. Feel free to browse it to get inspired on what tools to use. And don’t be daunted by this list! Think of these resources as tools for your project — we’ll be happy to help you use them during the workshop.

đź“ą Video Tutorials Playlist

A series of video tutorials we have crafted for you to learn the basics on robotics, coding, and machine learning that you will be using on the cluster for your project. On robotics, you’ll familiarize with general concepts on robot control, with the Machina framework, and RobotStudio. On code, you’ll learn about the HTTP and WebSocket protocols. On machine learning, you’ll see how to use SketchRNN and Watson as services.

👨🏻‍💻 Video Tutorials Source Code

Some video tutorials go through building small programs. We have open-sourced all of that code on GitHub so you can browse it, download it, and run in on your machine.

👨🏻‍💻 Mind Ex Machina Source Code

We have open-sourced the code of a series of libraries for robot control and machine learning on GitHub. We have prepared this code repository for the workshop in the form of standalone libraries, services, and sample projects. Libraries make it easier to start going with certain frameworks (such as SketchRNN or Machina), and services allow to create a server on your machine to use in your project. Projects showcase ways to combine these libraries and services into creative, interactive applications to control robots with machine learning algorithms.

🤖 Robot Training Requirements

Required before SmartGeometry

As a participant, you are required to complete a bit of online training before the first day of the workshop. Please do this as soon as you can — it will smooth things out for all of us =).
