Gin & Tonic
Yo,

Our names are Jack and Xavier, and we are Gin & Tonic.

The first question we always get asked is: “Who is Gin and who is Tonic?”. The truth is we don’t know. We got the name from a random word generator in year 8 when we were trying to come with a catchy name to use when DJ’ed at our mates house parties.

Since then, Gin & Tonic has become a musical venture between 2 best friends that changed our lives in more ways than we thought possible. We have thrived on music and used it to express our emotions, explore creative boundaries and mould our identities into who we are today.

Currently we study and work part time, but we would rather spend most of our time focusing on music. To put it simply, we want to make a career out of producing since it is what we are most passionate about. On a side note, we also want to quit our lame day jobs and stick it to our parents who didn’t let us go to producing school and made us get university degrees instead (don’t tell them we said that).

Producing music has become much more than just hobby for us and we hope you are able to feel the same way about our music as we do.

Our Sound:

If anything, we can apply the word “electronic” to describe the music we make. We employ influences from genres spanning from classical to techno and we have a really refined musical taste. Lately we have been exploring a more downtempo sound, combing elements of RnB with deep house.

Our latest release:

“Just Say” is a lo-fi deep house inspired track that we made with a talented Melbourne singer song writer named Ivoris. With this release, we aimed to try and blend obscure Korean Yaeji vibes and a Kaytranada style bass line in a lo-fi context.

A work in progress:

This track we are working on at the moment really capitalises on that chilled dance hall vibe that is currently making waves in the music scene.

It is still in its rough stages, but the demo we got back from Adelaide indie vocalist Shahrae really helps picture what the end product will be. In our opinion it is super catchy and is a unique fusion between the worlds of indie pop and popular dancehall RnB.

One of Our Collaborations:

We sadly couldn’t publish this track on streaming services as we did not have clearance to use the sample, but this didn't stop it from becoming a vibey slow jam, perfect for night time driving. We were very fortunate to produce the track for New Zealand artist Hans, who has previously worked with some of our favourite artists such as Clairo. Here is the music video he made to go along with the track.
