OdysseyJS

OdysseyJS Overall, Odyssey JS looks overwhelming, but with some experimentation and some practice, it can be used to create awesome visual displays.

StoryMap JS

StorymapJS is a free tool to help you tell stories on the web that highlight the locations of a series of events.  You can change the visual style of your map with a few presets, or you can use Mapbox to create your own style. StoryMap JS can pull in media from a variety of sources. Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo, Vine, Dailymotion, Google Maps, Wikipedia, SoundCloud, Document Cloud and more! Suggests not more than 20 slides on a route.

Story Map ArcGIS

Story Maps is an online mapping software that offers users multiple different applications to create a story. (now later version).

MapStory (not longer available)

MapStory is a great website to use to create a map presentation accompanied with a timeline. The basics are easy to understand and it is an easy tool to get started with. One of the best parts of this tool, especially for group projects, is that it is collaborative.

Mapbox Interactive storytelling free up to 50,000 map loads per month. Need:
  • a text editor. Atom, Sublime Text, and VS Code are common options.
While newsrooms have dedicated development resources to build the beautiful interactive maps they feature, we want to make it easy for anyone to tell their stories with a map. The Mapbox Storytelling Template provides a low-code, modularized template that anyone can use to input copy, select the elements of the map that they want to feature for each “chapter,” and quickly publish a highly interactive story experience with high quality visuals to support the content.

Maps.ie originally stems from a project to develop maps using Google Maps technology and the site has evolved over the years as new maps are created, developed and added to the website. The objective of the site is to create useful mapping tools and visitor information maps for a range of cities and activities in Ireland
