This disc is one of my favorites in the self-described"Unknown Voyager" series. Jim Sheldon meticulously“animated” Muybridge’s photographs — effectively showing us what Muybridge could see in his head but couldn’t yet"show" to the world because the the tech just wasn't quite there yet.
When we published this in the early 90s the same footage was on either side of the laserdisc. Side 1 was completely silent which seemed appropriate given the subject. The audio on Side 2 is documentary filmmaker, Ricky Leacock performing a narration in the words of Muybridge.
This material has not been seen since the demise of the optical laserdisc format.
