DevOps: THE NEW BLACK
You’d had to be remotely remote, if you didn’t notice the explosion of DevOps as well as DevSecOps over the years. With it’s increased popularity there has been a lot of questions asked, questions like, “what really is DevOps?”. This event was targeted at introducing DevOps to Babcock Varsity Ingressive Community, highlighting it’s importance, acquainted tools and services plus resources to kick start their DevOps career.
At 11:00am, the event was started with a prayer from the BUCC (Babcock University Club) chaplain, following immediately after that was the opening remarks given by myself. Ingressive was introduced during this time, stating what ingressive stands for, what it does and why it does it.
The first talk for the day was given by Chudi Oranu senior developer BUCC, titled “A Canonical introduction to DevOps”. He gave a brief overview of DevOps and introduced some tools used in the DevOps methodology. This watered the minds of the audience and prepared them for the second speaker.

The second talk titled “DevOps in Infans Steps” by myself aimed at taking the audience on a journey from being adrift to being well-informed, questions were asked and stickers awarded for answered questions.

Last and certainly not the least was ”Super powers of DevOps” by Jerry Enebeli, Back-end developer/DevOps Engineer at Softcom.ng. He highlighted the importance of devops and talked extensively on tools used in the craft, from version control to continous integration with jenkins, elastic search, down to packaging with Docker and the list goes on.

We all left the venue feeling like newly ordained DevOps Evangelist and Engineers after an enlightnening time with all three of the speakers and the interactive Q&A sessions. Refreshments were served as participants exited the lab as it is forbidden to eat in the Lab.
