Culture Mile - original

Culture Mile is the City of London’s new cultural district, stretching from Farringdon to Moorgate. Led by the City of London Corporation, with the Barbican, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London Symphony Orchestra and Museum of London, the five partners are together creating a vibrant, creative area in the north-west corner of the Square Mile.

Alongside animating the whole district with imaginative collaborations and events, delivering major enhancements to the streets and improving wayfinding, Culture Mile works with organisations from across the City to build a world-class hub of creativity, innovation and learning that delivers economic growth and social mobility for London.

Around the Corner is series of 12 installations that mark the route from Millenium Bridge to +Barbican Station

Launch of the Culture Mile

Imagine Fund

Imagine Fund by Culture Mile offered ten micro-grants supporting local people to develop ideas for the area which will help create a better future.
We wanted to support our community to create projects that benefited the area and the lives of the people in it. We offered ten micro-grants supporting local people to develop new ideas – creative, cultural or community. Open to all and any projects – plant projects, workspace, food events, creative workshops, arts projects, local radio – we received a variety of applications from people wanting to brighten up their community and collaborate with friends & neighbours.

Look and Feel strategy

The key recommendations include the essential improvement of Beech Street, new public space around the new Museum of London at West Smithfield, making Moor Lane an urban oasis where visitors can pause and relax and the proposed Centre for Music. More at +Look and Feel
