☘️ Critique 2 – Stories as Networks
I’m dividing the class into 2 groups of 8/9. You’re only required to stay in the Zoom during your group’s presentations, but you’re welcome to stay for both if you’d like. Please link your project below where it says “url” underneath your name.
You’ll notice that each person has been assigned a first responder (1R), and notetaker (N). The first responder (1R) will kick off our discussion as soon as the presenter has finished sharing their work. The notetaker will listen carefully and document the highlights of the critique on our document.

Please also submit your assignment on Canvas.

When critiquing, these are the questions we should consider:
  • Was there a clear idea throughout the interface and design? What supported this?
  • Does the design hold up without special effects? How do the effects amplify or detract from the experience?
  • What aspects were most successful about the project?
  • What parts were unresolved what would have helped?

Group 1: 9:00 AM EST

Group 2: 10:25 AM EST

Lara, Gia, Kashish, Julia, Isabella, Whitley, Yuk Hei

Group 1

Michelle K. (1R: Yuka, N: Luna)

notes:
  • Blur the boundaries between beginning and end
  • Three-column system with navigation bar in the middle
  • Left side shows the storyline, right side shows the original text in reverse order
  • Effective system that goes in line with the overall concept
  • Reorganize hierarchy between title and text
  • Marquee inside the page becomes a little disruptive with its positioning

Yuka (1R: Luna, N: Michelle N)

notes:
  • Theme of the number six
  • Different links take you to different “rooms,” or pages where the design style changes
  • The users are well-directed through the site
  • More interactive feeling than legibility
  • The alignment/destruction of the text could have potentially been emphasized

Luna (1R: Michelle N, N: Kristy)

notes:
  • With the Black texts, it eventually forms a poetry is interesting idea
  • The animation functions well to form the website and shows the theme of the story very clearly.
  • The Static system works well and makes the webpage very functional and uniformed.
  • More consistency needed

Michelle N. (1R: Kristy, N: Chichi)

notes:
  • interesting table of contents, nice way to have extra info
  • opacity changes make it more comfortable for reading
  • matching the mood with story makes the article clear
