Compare Images
In Connecter, you can compare up to four images by previewing them side by side in the Compare Images tool.

When you compare two images, additional tooling like "Switching positions" and "Overlay mode" are available:

Also, when comparing two images, the "Show difference" feature helps you to spot the areas where there are differences:

Opening images in Compare Images tool
To compare images, select two, three or four image assets and:
  • Hover over any selected image and choose the "Compare Image" command from the asset's right-click contextual menu.
or
  • Press the Control and Enter keyboard keys.

Navigating images in Compare Images tool
The Compare Images tool previews each image in a separate viewport with its zoom and pan controls. When you open the Compare Images tool, it zooms all images to fit their viewports best; a magnifying glass icon and percentage value shows you the current zoom for each asset. When you zoom and pan any of the images, all other images also zoom and pan in sync. To zoom and pan an image, use the standard Lightbox interactions:
  • Use the mouse scroll to zoom in or out;
  • Double-click the left mouse button to preview the image at full size (100% zoom); double-click again to zoom to fit the viewport;
  • Click and hold the left mouse button and drag to pan the image.

Removing images from the comparison
While comparing images, you may want to remove one or more and leave only those with which you wish to continue. To remove an image from the Compare Images comparison, click the "x" button at the top right of its viewport. This removal of images only takes them out of the comparison mode, and they are NOT deleted or removed from the disk.
When you're removing images with only two left, or if you open to compare two images, there is no remove option, as the Compare Images tool works with at least two images.

Additional tooling when comparing two images

Switching images positions
By default, the tool positions the images by name, the first (A) in the left viewport and the second on the right (B). To switch positions, click the AB button in the tool's header. It also works in combination with the "Overlay mode":

Overlay mode
The "Overlay mode" composes one of the images on top of the other, and you can compare them with the help of interactive masking. Image A is placed on top by default, but you can use the AB switch to change that.
Select the "Overlay mode" checkbox in the tool's header to enter the mode, and deselect to return to the default side-by-side mode:

Interactive masking
Interactive masking in the Overlay mode allows you to mask the image under with the image on top. By default, the transition border is in the centre, so you don't see the right half of the image on top to see the right half of the other image. Click the Transition dropdown button and select Horizontal if you want to change the masking from vertical to horizontal.
Hover the blue transition borderline (the cursor changes to two arrows), click and hold the left mouse button and drag to the left or right to see more or less of the image below:

Blending images
The Blend option sets the top image's transparency in the area where the image underneath appears. By default, there is complete transparency, e.g. the top image doesn't affect the image beneath. To make the top image less transparent, move the Blend slider to the right. When it's entirely to the right, the image on top is entirely visible (100% opaque).

TIP: Move the transition border to the right edge (when Vertical) or bottom edge (when Horizontal) of the viewport to have the top image entirely covering the other beneath. Then use the blend slider to change the transparency.
