CHESS ENGLAND ON TORNELO

You must accept the terms and conditions below to participate.  We want competitive chess, played fairly and we want everyone to treat their opponents with respect.  You can treat the organiser how you like…

>>> You should treat playing chess online as seriously as you would an over-the-board competition. Have a separate playing area where practical; do not have a phone in the playing area; do not have any other tabs open on your computer or any other devices (you can be defaulted for this); do not talk with other people during your game, and so on. Don’t chat with players who are in the middle of a game.  <<<
Please use your camera to film your full head and shoulders and ideally the screen. If you have a separate camera then please use it to film your screen and the back of your head and shoulders. This is to avoid accusations of engine use during the game. If you go off-camera during a game (without permission), you may be defaulted.
Zoom - You don’t have to install anything, just click the link in the Tornelo lobby and follow the instructions.  Zoom calls will be recorded - and stored by me for reference in case of a complaint or dispute. Install Zoom - I would recommend that you install Zoom and watch this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4BgPkbYHM0
All games will be analysed live by our Fair Play algorithm.  If you have been using any computer assistance, this test will identify it. I reserve the right not to pay cash prizes to any player, for example, whose Raw Outlier Index (ROI) score or Move Matching (MM) score for an event on the Regan test is 70 or more. We also use other methods to detect assistance.
TIP OF THE DAY - use Chrome or Firefox to play, use as large a screen as you can manage and use a mouse! DO NOT EVER USE INTERNET EXPLORER OR EDGE!

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

  • To take part in these events, you will need (ideally) a desktop computer with a webcam, and ideally a headset microphone. You could use your phone to join the video and audio, and play chess on your laptop using Tornelo - see the +TORNELO HOW-TO.  I have not worked out if it is possible to play chess AND be on camera on an iPad, but I think it is impossible.
