Quest 1:

An aristocrat named Guili seeks a company of adventurers to ‘recover’ Iphos' Leaves of Omens and Portents from a rival who he claims has stolen them from him.  The twist is that instead of stealing the Leaves FOR Guili, they actually are stealing them FROM Guili, with the person hiring them actually being a rival of the noble, by the name of Percy Evyn.

This will be revealed to the party when they reach the intended vault, and then are confronted by Guili Marinto Hode, who is the owner of the vault, and the rightful owner of the leaves. When this reveal happens, it should be noted that the leaves, after being placed in the box given to the party from Percy, are gone, likely having been transported by magic to a location of Percy’s choosing.

Instead of having the party arrested and thrown away, the real Mr. Hode will instead offer to enlist the party to help reclaim his item from Percy, recognizing that it is likely that Percy procured the Leaves to predict market trends, and use them to get an advantage on Mr. Hode’s businesses. Recognizing the skills of the party, Mr. Hode wants to use this to help give Percy the slip up.

Scene 1 - Meeting Guili, and Getting the Gig

Party will be brought to meet Guili after they were specifically contacted by him personally for a job. In addition, they were fronted a 10 gp payment, with a guarantee of an additional 90 gp to be paid out upon the finish of the mission. They meet Guili at an inn, The Wand of Fire, where he takes them up to a room to hash out the details of the mission.

Guili’s appearance is human, noble in bearing, with tangled golden hair and hazel eyes. He wears tailored clothing and an amulet of luminous crystal. He carries an air of both confidence and assurance that can be off-putting to some, but he is known to be a rather aloof individual that is rarely seen. He operates multiple businesses, mostly involving with trade.

In fact, most don’t seem to completely agree on how he looks, as he uses this to his advantage.

The party is introduced to the noble, and the discussion is mostly about establishing the goals of the job, as well as Guili aiding the party by way of giving them maps that outline the layout of Marinto’s Vault, as well as marking three possible holding chambers that would carry Iphos’ Leaves of Omens and Portents. Lastly, he will provide the party with a key that he was able to acquire. The vault that it opens will be the one that carries the requested items.  He’ll also note that a shorthand for this particular resource is known as ILOP.

He will provide the party with a small box that they are to put the leaves into once they find them.

“This box will ensure that the leaves stay at their proper humidity during transport. The air outside of the vault is too humid, and would tarnish their worth.”

If the box is examined by anyone, they might notice a “PE” marking with a Perception (Searching/Seeing) 7 check

Guili will emphasize the importance that no one should be killed for the sake of the job.

“Feel free to rough ‘em up a bit, but these guys are just doing their jobs. I’m just getting back what’s mine.“

Lastly, Guili will note that while he has floorplans for Marinto’s Vault, he actually doesn’t know exactly where the vault is.

“Marinto’s a shifty fellow. There are multiple places where he could have this vault, though I’m sure if you asked around a little you can get a clue. The Grand Marinto’s Holdings group is generally interested in trade by sea, though, so that might be a clue”

Skill Challenge 1 - Finding Marinto’s Vault

The party will be tasked to figure out where the vault is. This can be done through just brute searching, asking others, or inferring where it might be based on what sort of trade Guili engages in.

Whatever the party does for their checks, the success threshold for this challenge will be either 10 or 15 depending on how fast stunt dice build up.
