Art 480 Project Checklist

As we approach the end of this quarter, schedules can get a little crazy and tasks can often be neglected until the last minute, if not completely forgotten. Use this checklist as a way to mitigate this issue and keep yourself from forgetting a project.

  • New or updated project
  • This is the large project that you have been working on most of the quarter. This will be due as a part of your final portfolio presentation on the last week of school (11/13 or 11/15).

  • Design studio visit & presentation
  • You and your group must develop a presentation to the class discussing what you learned on your studio tour(s). You will conduct in-depth research on the agency including, history, client roster, work, employees, location, etc. You will contact the agency and arrange for a visit. Your group will visit the agency, meet with the appropriate staff and learn about their hiring processes, etc. Your group will present the trip to the class.

  • Thank you card
  • Send a handwritten thank you note to each person you met with at the agency. This should be sent out a few days after your visit.

  • Final digital portfolio
  • This will be your edited portfolio in PDF form. This should include a title page with your name and contact info, 8–12 portfolio pieces with a brief project description, and an abbreviated résumé. This should have a horizontal orientation. Example portfolios can be viewed here.

  • Design document
  • Like the digital portfolio, this will be a PDF that houses not only the work that you do in this class, but also your development as a designer and person in general. A more detailed explanation can be viewed here.
