Over the past few years, I’ve coached designers on navigating the design career ladder with more intentionality. For early in career designers, the ladder can sometimes feel like a stagnant list of requirements going on forever in a linear direction. There are times when for the sake of simplicity the design oganization models career ladders after Engineering and Product Management. Instead getting stuck in boxes, I helped designers take a different perspective on the ladder so they feel more empower to design their careers from a place of opportunities rather than constraints.Â
