AikBot @Techfugees Hackathon

why

  • make things easier to find.
  • the info is out there, but it’s not accessible enough.
  • One migrant spoke about finding out about useful services four yrs after she needed it.

target market:
  • migrants
  • NGO’s to make their services (more) discoverable to migrants

Idea

a simple, easy to use way to ask questions about
  1. services available
  • migrant relevant resources nearby
  • scholarships available
  • other apps, communities, etc useful to that specific person
  1. fill out forms where possible by asking questions relevant for that service and filling out the form (or sending the relevant link).

AikBot Prototype

Demo link

plan

  • get prototype up and running
  • setup python/flask powered API endpoint
  • receive data
  • lookup and crunch useful data
  • returns answer
  • TALK TO THE RIGHT PPPL - migrants, social workers, SSI
  • make a top ten list of useful qs the bot can answer and put info in airtable/gsheets
  • scholarships, schools, nearby services
  • list of useful free apps for migrants and what they can do
  • more languages

business model

  • open source, free to use
  • potential revenue: help orgs expose info via chatbots

Looking for initial funding for:
  • getting it off the ground to a useful state
  • pay a few migrants for consultations, user testing and development

Tools I’m using

  • https://glitch.com to run the backend to take in input, parse it and return a answer
  • Google Sheets to store info- API
  • serverless python and flask to answer questions
  • consider using rasa stack for the chatbot - its an opensource AI bot framework which makes it easy to customize & plugin other services like translation, answers, wikipedia, everything

summary

  • aik bot to answer as many useful questions as possible

Questions

  • is this a real problem?
  • is messenger a common platform for migrants?
