課程描述

資訊政策是所有涉及資訊、傳播和文化的法律、法規和理論的總稱,更確切地說,資訊政策包括法律、法規和理論立場,以及涉及資訊創建、處理、流動、獲取和使用的決策、實踐,和整個社會的組成效應。本課程探討在資訊科技環境中資訊生成、轉移和使用衍生的相關議題,包括資訊政策的意義、內涵、範圍和形成;資訊政策在國家層級、機構層級和圖書資訊服務專業的不同焦點和應用;當前的資訊政策問題;以及不同國家資訊政策發展的歷程等。
Course Description
This course explores the main policy issues related to the generation, transfer, and use of information related to information technology, including the significance, contents, scopes, and formation of information policies. History as well as current issues of information policies in different countries will be explored, including models of the policy formation, different levels of attention for different societies, and different information policies effecting the economic and social environment differently. Current issues of information policy at various levels will also be discussed.

COURSE GOALS
  1. To explore the significance, contents, scope and formation of information policies.
  1. To delineate the political, economic, social, cultural and ethical components of information policy in different nations.
  1. To investigate issues surrounding information policy at various levels.  
  1. To promote advocacy of relevant policy issues amongst library and information professionals.

By the conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 
  1. Understand and define information policy. 
  1. Recognize and discuss the purposes for which information policies are developed.
  1. Understand the historical development and significance of key information policies among different nations.
  1. Identify key information policies to promote advocacy of relevant policy issues amongst library and information professionals.
