Here are the steps to create web address mapping through the admin console:
1. Go to the sharing settings of the editable version of the site and select: Published - Anyone can find and view.
2. Publish your site. Until the site is published, any redirects won’t work. You can do that by simply clicking on the Publish button at the top right corner of the site. Detailed description of the actions above can be found in this Help Center article

1. Log into your Admin console from admin.google.com.

2. Navigate to Apps > G Suite > Sites.

3. Click on Web Address Mapping.
4. Click on Add a new web address.
5. Choose the version of your site between new Sites or classic Sites.
6. Enter the site name. The site name can be found in the drop down menu of the publish settings of your site. There must not be any changes in the site name when you adding it to the mapping. To validate that you are using the correct one, you can simply paste the last part of the URL which occurs under the site name: https://sites.google.com/mydomain.com/sitename.
7. Enter the subdomain you’ll be using and select your domain for your site (for example, www.mydomain.com).

Note: Customers who have purchased their domain from a Google partner don’t need to add the required records manually. They will be configured by default in the domain’s DNS records, so the customer can set up email, web addresses, and other services.

If you prefer to make your site accessible by simply typing mydomain.cominstead of www.mydomain.com, you can do it by redirecting your naked domain address. Here are the steps:
1. From the Admin console’s Home page, go to Domains.
2. To see Domains, you might have to click More controls at the bottom.
3. Click Add/Remove domains.
4. Under Primary domain, click Redirect your naked domain.
5. Enter the prefix, or subdomain, of the address where you want to send users when they type your naked domain (typically www). Then click Continue.
6. There you can find detailed instructions of how to Add/Change the A-records for your domain.
7. You also need to use the values provided in the guideline.
