What You Need Help With

Paul
I am creating a self-inspired guide to provide people with a way of seeing their life differently, inspired by many perspectives and solutions, and providing interactive methods of getting out of our own thinking

Claire
Young women’s speech and vernacular is stereotyped and stigmatized often seen as frivolous and  gossipy.  With my event inspired by European salons in the 16th century I hope to create a publication and additional artifacts that show how versed conerversation can be between young women.
I am still not 100% on the final publication and what exactly will be featured in it, and I really hope my event goes smoothly.

Instead of looking at subjects and meaning, a designer is trained to also look at form, beyond knowledge. What if before seeing a traffic cone, you see a triangle with a flat tip, bright orange, with a line in the middle?
As we grow objects and forms become meaning, ideas, and even language. There is a disconnection to the object as object. By creating new framings of the world, I aim to connect back to the form of the object, what came before meaning, its essence.
I am unsure about the method and process that will best correspond to each section

Make sure to find a sweet spot between making the experience a discovery and to a certain level a challenge,  but not so much that it would be confusing and too difficult to decipher.

Mental health is so dependent on your inner monologue. So i am creating motion graphic animations  about quantum mechanics which will offer a perspective of ourselves and the world that may ground people who feel overwhelmed or numbed by the state of the world.
Is the audience clear enough
and i switched my idea so im still reorganizing the content and still figuring out how to design this in a way that makes sense for the content?

Avery
A zine guiding the newer generation of internet users on using it realistically through the lens of a less refined early 2000s internet culture.
gathering and completing more content. Does it represent the internet culture we grew up with successfully and is it appealing enough to younger viewers?

Ashley
A platform that can help 2nd-3rd gen immigrant’s  / Asian American’s diet with the foods that they grew up with instead of being pressured into using western methods and eliminate their own cultural ingredients.
I think I want to continue this concept. The biggest struggle is “how” I want to present the idea and what’s the best way I can educate my audience with this information. I also don’t know if my audience is too broad or do I have to narrow it down even more.

Weihe (Leanne)
How to visualize human interactions with the environment through visible traces and how those traces reflect human actions in different neighborhoods?
Whether this thesis idea is specific enough?

Contemporary Chinese culture is developing and slowly taking its form, different generations have different ideas of what Contemporary Chinese Culture is.
This week goal: Finish translating all the collected material for both languages, English and Chinese. Start visual design.

Ways of showing different perspective for different age group.

The allure of the virtual space of the internet is in it’s virtue (or power) of disembodying our experience of media and social life and, thus, freeing us from the material limitations we are used to in experiencing the real world.
What is my “point of view”? That the internet shouldn’t do this? That we need to have a better understanding of what the technology of the internet gives us & takes from us in order to enact our agency over it?

Helen
The English language has changed and evolved naturally over thousands of years. Humans have shared stories and myths to help explain this evolution. Written down, changes each iteration with rise of printing, globalization, internet. Internet language is only a natural evolution to our written language as we write digitally more and more.
(Maybe a paragraph about the study of internet linguistics.)

(start w/ a more everyday Q specifically about texting language for example)How has the language we choose been filtered through the digital age?
(Project name) is an exploration of how the past is being filtered through the present. With a series of digital and print exercises examining the documenting tools and systems in place by digital writing media, I am looking at different models of how the rise of discourse online is shaping linguistics today. Through the tools we choose to use, we inherit  these “defaults” systems that format and shape our writing and digital conversations.

I think I am struggling with finding a cohesive aesthetic that I find exciting. because I am kind of studying “defaults” as a design system it feels kind of boring visually.

Also wrapping/packaging the project through the main home page to better follow my concept. making it more conceptual rather just a “normal” scroll page?

Disha
A book that uses the motifs and materiality of Kashmiri textiles to present information about Kashmir’s territorial changes throughout history. It is aimed for people who want to learn more about the political landscape of Kashmir through a cultural context.
Refining map graphics and making them look more sophisticated/resolved

Thoughts on choice of colour

Alisa
To create an archive of web design with a perspective and organization in textures and graphical elements of designs. Providing an additional perspective of history of web design.
Focusing on the purpose of the book and the audience who will understand the specific perspective.

Figuring out ways of organizing content for reasons of textural and graphical element choices.

Jiayi (Cassie)

Allison
Tackling the issue of food waste and loss through small changes in our day-to-day, making at impact at a consumer level. Simultaneously, I want to help achieve better health / lifestyle goals.
Narrowing down on my “point of view”, and if my current draft has a solid structure that isn’t straying too far from solving the core problem. Also, if I want to continue with this idea, because I’ve done more UX projects in the past.

Xinyi (Vella)
Normal or daily objects always get less attention from people, which is similar to regular people get easily ignored by others. Instead of focusing on real human world, I chose to focus on the normal daily objects around me. They play important roles in our daily life, but are always treated as default. I want to use motion video and book to present how different these normal objects can be so people might revalue them in a different way.
If the motion is understandable and what are the thoughts of watching the motion video.
